Grundy County Outreach
The Grundy County Outreach office is located at 1606 G Avenue, Grundy Center, Iowa. Programs do differ slightly from those offered in Black Hawk and Buchanan Counties. Please find below an overview of programs offered in Grundy. For questions or to find out if you qualify, please call (319) 824-3460.
| Women,
Children, and Infants Nutrition Program (WIC) WIC provides specific foods to help meet the nutritional needs of pregnant and nursing women, infants and children up to age five. |
Low
Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) LIHEAP supplements the high cost of winter heating for low-income households and also provides emergency furnace repair or replacement for qualifying home owners. |
Nest Programs The Nest programs help low-income pregnant and new mothers have healthier pregnancies and healthier babies through education, prenatal care, and positive parenting. The Nest programs provide items such as diapers, wipes, and baby formula. |
Crisis Assistance On a limited basis, Operation Threshold provides financial assistance to households facing crisis situations such as utility disconnection or refusal to deliver fuel. |

Housing & Fair Lending Counseling or PROUD Homeownership Initiative The Housing & Fair Lending Counseling program provides education for the homebuyer. Both pre- and post- purchase counseling classes are available on a monthly basis. By appointment only in Grundy County. |
Homes that are weatherized use less energy to heat and cool. In addition to making homes more energy- efficient, the Weatherization team also replaces furnaces as needed and conducts a complete safety inspection of appliances. Please call for more information on weatherization. |
Family Development Self-Sufficiency (FaDSS) FaDSS is a state wide strength based self-sufficiency program which emphasizes employment and education and provides intensive one-on-one support, home visits, individual assessments, goal setting, advocacy, and referrals. |
Grundy
County Food Pantry The Food Pantry offers food to income qualifying individuals and families. The Food Pantry does accept food item donations. However, opened food or food frozen or processed at home cannot be accepted. Please click here for a brochure. |

Energy Wise Energy Wise Classes are available on a limited basis. Classes include tips on reducing energy usage and include Weatherization kits. |
Adopt-A-Family at Christmas Adopt-A-Family is a program that lets community members and groups or organizations provide holiday gifts for needy families. |
Share the Warmth Share the Warmth is a winter coat distribution program in which coats and winter clothing items are collected and distributed to children and adults in need. |
Schools Supplies Prior to the start of the academic year, school supplies are collected and distributed to qualifying families. Please call for list of school supplies. |

Children's Clothing Operation Threshold does accept and distribute gently used children's clothing items to qualifying families and their children. Donations of children's clothes are welcome! |
Rent Assistance Small stipends for rental assistance can be given on an emergency basis to qualifying individuals and families. Please call the office for more information on qualifying for rent assistance. |
Volunteer Services Want to volunteer, but aren't sure where? Call Operation Threshold and someone will assist you in deciding where to volunteer your time. Operation Threshold solicits volunteers for programs within the county. |
Food Assistance Outreach The Food Assistance Outreach program assists individuals with food assistance (Food Stamp) applications and appointments. |

To donate items, please call Operation Threshold or drop off items during business hours. Checks and money orders (please do not mail cash) can be sent to Operation Threshold - Grundy, 1606 G Avenue, P.O. Box 41, Grundy Center, IA 50638. Please also consider donating your time; we are always looking for volunteers!
Operation Threshold is a 501(c)3 tax exempt nonprofit. Your donations to the agency are tax deductible.
