Family Nest - Grundy County

Family Nest The Family Nest program is an incentive based program for pregnant mothers, families and their children ages 0-18. Participants earn points which are in turn, redeemed for incentive items. The Family Nest program rewards participating families for healthy behaviors and for attending educational programs offered through the Family Nest.  Family Nest is open to income-eligible families. Participants must be residents of, or receive health care services, in Buchanan County.  Participants are income-eligible if their household income is at or below 185% of the Federal poverty level.

In June, we held the Family Nest Safety Fair at Operation Threshold Office in Grundy Center.  At the Fair parents received car seat safety instruction and had their questions answered.  Children were safe and parents were without distraction during the presentation and discussion.

·   Parents, children and staff became better acquainted during the informal lunchtime.  Car seat inspections were made and new seats provided at no cost to families. Parents received individual instruction on installation and daily use for their type of seat.

Donations and Drives

Donations of new and gently used items can be dropped off at Operation Threshold. We accepts checks, money orders, and cash. Please do not send cash in the mail. Operation Threshold is a 501(c)3 tax exempt nonprofit. Your donations to the agency are tax deductible.
