Iowa Utilities Board Warns of Utility Scams

The Iowa Utilities Board is aware of potential payment scams during the public health emergency from the COVID-19 outbreak, including calls or unscheduled visits by persons targeting utility service and claims of service disconnection. With many people working from home — and possibly answering calls from unfamiliar phone numbers, be aware these might be from a robocaller or scammer. The following webpage provides customers with information and tips to avoid being a target of a utility related scam.

Nest Prenatal Bootie Camp Being Held

Operation Threshold’s Nest program will be holding a Prenatal Bootie Camp on Monday, September 28th, 2015. The event will be held from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm at the Operation Threshold main office at 1535 Lafayette Street, Waterloo.  Pregnant/Expecting parents are invited to attend. Attendees will learn valuable information about topics such as the importance of prenatal care, healthy eating, preparation for the hospital stay, fetal development, etc.

Operation Threshold Releases New WIC Income Guidelines

WIC Announces New Income Guidelines WATERLOO- Operation Threshold’s WIC program implemented new income guidelines on July 1st.  These income guidelines are 185% of the federal poverty guidelines and are updated annually.  Applicants with a gross income equal to, or less than, than the amounts listed are income eligible for WIC services. The Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a program available in every county in Iowa and throughout all 50 states.

Independence Office to Relocate

Operation Threshold’s Independence office will be moving to a new location at 1827 1st Street West, Independence. In order to complete the move, the office will be closed on Tuesday, August 11th and Friday, August 14th.   The office may also be closed Monday, August 17th, depending on the availability of equipment and network services. Monday hours, if any will be posted at the new site.

Click here to download the application.   The From the Heart program is now seeking applications for qualified Owner-Occupied Homeowners in Waterloo.  The From the Heart: Waterloo Home Enhancement Project is a Co-Sponsor Agreement between various Waterloo Agencies, Community Members, and Group Workcamp Foundation. This partnership will lead to the repair and improvement of up to 65 homes in Waterloo, Iowa.

“OPERATION THAW” FROZEN WATER SERVICE LINE RELIEF PROJECT Waterloo, Iowa.  Waterloo mayor Buck Clark, Operation Threshold (O/T) executive director Barbara Grant, Waterloo Water Works general manager Dennis Clark and Black Hawk County Gaming Association (BHCGA) board chairman Tim Hurley announced today an emergency grant program aimed at assisting income-eligible homeowners with the costs for thawing frozen water service lines to their homes.
