Operation Threshold WIC Program Update

Update – October 3, 2013 – USDA released additional funding today, October 3, 2013, which will allow the Iowa WIC programs to remain open through the end of October and to issue WIC checks for October only.  Those participants who were seen earlier this month and did not receive their WIC checks at their appointment will receive their October WIC checks in the mail.  Issuance of WIC checks for November and December 2013 will be dependent upon the Federal Government reaching a budget agreement.

October 2, 2013 – Operation Threshold’s WIC program has been impacted by the shutdown of the Federal government.  Currently, the WIC program is not able to print checks for participants.  However, WIC staff are encouraging participants to attend previously scheduled WIC appointments as staff will be able to mail WIC checks to those participants once the government is back up and running.

For any participants that do have WIC checks for October and November, those checks are valid, and may be used.  In addition, if they need those checks re-issued (say for a different formula), that can be done as well.  And, for those that have Farmer’s Market checks, they can be used between now and the end of October, when they expire.
